The switcher sits at the center of every production — but it's one piece of a much larger system. Modern live productions rarely end at one feed to one destination. Audiences today expect different viewing experiences depending on where they're watching — a public livestream, a private corporate portal, a translated feed, a vertical cut for social. Our workflow is built around that reality from the start, not bolted on afterward.
Wirecast, vMix, OBS Studio, and enterprise collaboration systems like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco Webex extend the switcher far beyond its native feature set — each one an additional production layer handling encoding, graphics, media playback, remote guests, recording, and cloud connectivity. They don't replace the hardware; they multiply what it can do.
Remote presenters joining through Teams, Zoom, or Webex appear as broadcast-quality virtual cameras inside the meeting itself — a polished production instead of a webcam feed — while remote guests are brought into the live show with full graphics, audio processing, and camera switching, so in-person and remote participants interact naturally.
A hardware switcher streams to one destination at a time. Our software-driven workflow streams to dozens simultaneously — public platforms, private portals, internal CDNs, membership sites, government broadcast systems — with cloud distribution services replicating a single encode into as many outputs as the event needs, without adding a single cable on site.
Every destination doesn't have to see the same thing. A public webcast can carry sponsor graphics and engagement overlays while a corporate executive feed stays clean and confidential, a venue projection runs without lower thirds, an interpreter feed stays permanently visible, and social viewers get a vertically framed cut — all from one production, each output controlled independently.
Software production layers add far more graphic capability than any hardware switcher alone — lower thirds, live data, scoreboards, social feeds, polling, tickers — and every layer can be assigned to a different output, so each audience only sees what's meant for them.
NDI, SRT, RTMP, RTSP, and other IP transport protocols mean video isn't limited by physical cable runs anymore. A remote office, a home presenter, a mobile device, a production truck, or a cloud server can all be routed, monitored, recorded, and switched almost as if they were plugged directly into the production.
Software integration means recording more than one thing at a time — the broadcast master, a clean program feed, individual presenter isolations, remote guest isolations, backups, archive masters, social cuts, even audio-only versions — all captured simultaneously, giving post-production real flexibility and the whole production real resilience.
Modern software platforms take repetitive operator tasks off the table entirely — scheduled graphics, automated playback, scene recall, macros, stream scheduling, API-driven data graphics, even remote control from a tablet or browser — so operators spend their attention on the story, not the switches.
Every event is different — some need one camera and a simple webcast, others need multiple venues, international presenters, live interpretation, and distribution to dozens of destinations at once.
